Waiting in port could now be cheaper than waiting outside when waiting for access to the oil terminals at Mongstad and Sture.

With todays bunker rates it is easy to calculate that it is cheaper to wait in port than to wait outside.

This is typical related to the tankers arriving for the oil terminal a few days ahead of laydays, and then choose to wait North-West of Fedje.

On the SafePort homepages you can easily calculate the cost of waiting by use of their cost calculator.

- With the high bunker prices and the advantages in port, it is likely to believe that the trend will change, from waiting outside to a cheaper waiting period in port, says Managing Director Dag Gjert Thomassen in SafePort.

SafePort will also perform maintenance and services as requested

SafePort operates two quays that are ideal for waiting, these are the MTDA quay 14, and the Sloevaag quay 5. Both have capacities for large tankers.
